Game Mechanics

Piece Movement

Each piece moves according to standard chess rules. Pawns move forward one square, or two squares on their first move. Knights move in an L-shape (2 squares in one direction and 1 square perpendicular). Bishops move diagonally any number of squares. Rooks move horizontally or vertically any number of squares. Queens move any number of squares in any direction. Kings move one square in any direction.

The game highlights valid moves when you select a piece, making it easy to learn and play. Advanced moves like castling and en passant are also supported!

Check and Checkmate

When a king is under attack, it's in check. You must get out of check immediately - either by moving the king, capturing the attacking piece, or blocking the attack. If you can't get out of check, it's checkmate and you lose the game.

The game automatically detects check and checkmate, making it easy to play even for beginners. If your king is in check, the game will alert you and highlight valid moves that get you out of check!

AI Difficulty Levels

The AI has five difficulty levels to suit players of all skill levels. Easy mode is perfect for beginners, with the AI making simple moves. Medium mode provides a good challenge for intermediate players. Hard mode is for experienced players, with the AI making strategic decisions.
