Game Mechanics
Grid System
The game is played on a 3x3 grid, consisting of 9 cells. Players take turns marking cells with their symbol - X for Player 1 and O for Player 2. The grid is the playing field where all the action happens!
Each cell can only be marked once. Once a cell is occupied, it cannot be changed. The game ends when one player gets three in a row, or when all cells are filled with no winner (a draw).
Winning Conditions
There are 8 possible ways to win in Tic Tac Toe. Three horizontal lines (top, middle, bottom), three vertical lines (left, center, right), and two diagonal lines (top-left to bottom-right, top-right to bottom-left).
To win, a player must have all three cells in one of these lines marked with their symbol. The first player to achieve this wins the game. If all 9 cells are filled and no player has three in a row, the game is a draw.
AI Difficulty Levels
The AI opponent has three difficulty levels. Easy mode makes random moves, perfect for beginners. Medium mode uses basic strategy and will block your winning lines. Hard mode uses perfect strategy - it's mathematically impossible to beat if both players play perfectly!
The hard AI uses the minimax algorithm, which evaluates all possible moves and chooses the optimal one. This means it will always make the best possible move to either win or force a draw.
