How to Play Papercraft Wars

Basic Controls

🖱️

Aim with Mouse

Move your mouse cursor to aim the paper airplane launcher. A targeting reticle follows your cursor, showing exactly where your shot will travel.

🖱️

Click to Launch

Click the left mouse button to fold and launch a paper airplane. Each fold creates a different paper craft with unique flight characteristics.

⌨️

Space Bar Special

Press Space to activate a special paper craft formation that launches three paper airplanes simultaneously in a spread pattern.

⌨️

Number Keys for Folds

Use number keys 1-4 to select different paper fold types: dart, glider, stunt plane, and heavy bomber. Each has different speed and damage.

1

Start the Mission

Each level presents a new paper warfare scenario with enemy formations, defensive structures, and specific objectives. Read the mission brief before starting to understand what needs to be destroyed.

2

Fold Your Paper Airplane

Choose your fold type based on the tactical situation. The dart is fast and accurate for single targets, the glider moves slower but carries more paper explosives, and the stunt plane can curve around obstacles.

3

Aim Your Shot

Position your cursor to line up your shot. Pay attention to wind indicators that show which direction the paper airplane will drift. Account for wind speed when planning long-range shots.

4

Destroy Enemy Targets

Hit enemy paper targets with your projectiles. Some targets require multiple hits to destroy, while others are one-shot. Chain destruction of multiple targets creates combo multipliers for bonus points.

5

Complete the Objective

Once all required targets are destroyed, the level is complete. Remaining paper ammunition translates to bonus points, so efficiency matters. Clear all targets with a perfect ammo score for three-star ratings.

6

Progress to Next Level

Each completed mission unlocks the next level in the campaign. Later levels introduce new paper fold types, challenging wind conditions, fortified enemies, and boss battles with giant paper structures.

Pro Tips & Strategies for Papercraft Wars

💨 Master the Wind

Always check the wind indicator before taking your shot. A strong crosswind can push your paper airplane significantly off course, especially at longer distances. Aim into the wind to compensate, and adjust your power based on wind speed. Experienced players can use wind to their advantage by bouncing shots off wind currents to hit targets behind obstacles.

🎯 Choose the Right Fold

Each paper fold type excels in different situations. Use the dart for fast, accurate single-target missions where speed matters more than power. Select the glider for levels with large, slow-moving targets that need sustained damage. The stunt plane is ideal for navigating around obstacles and hitting targets at unusual angles. Save the heavy bomber for boss battles and heavily fortified positions.

⚡ Build Combos Strategically

Combos are the key to high scores. Rather than taking careful single shots, try to position multiple targets in a line or cluster them together so one paper airplane can destroy several targets. The combo multiplier increases rapidly, so a five-target chain is worth far more than five separate destructions. Look for levels where enemy formations create natural combo opportunities.

📏 Trajectory Preview

Pay attention to the trajectory preview line that appears when aiming. This shows where your paper airplane will travel, accounting for wind and gravity. The preview becomes more accurate as you hold the aim longer, giving you time to fine-tune your shot before committing. Never rush a shot when the preview shows a poor trajectory.

💥 Aim for Weak Points

Some targets have obvious weak points highlighted by a different color or flashing indicator. Hitting these weak points deals double damage and can destroy multi-hit targets in one shot. Always prioritize targets with visible weak points, especially on higher difficulty levels where ammunition is more limited.

🏅 Minimize Ammo Usage

Remaining ammunition counts toward your bonus score at the end of each level. Rather than spraying shots everywhere, focus on careful, deliberate aiming. The three-star rating requires completing a level with at least thirty percent of your ammo remaining. Practice on early levels to develop accuracy before attempting the challenging later missions.

🔄 Restart Strategically

There is no penalty for restarting a level in Papercraft Wars. If you burn through your ammo supply or miss critical targets, restart immediately rather than wasting remaining shots on impossible angles. The level restart button is always accessible in the top-right corner, allowing you to retry levels instantly with a fresh ammo loadout.

🌀 Special Formation Attack

The Space bar triggers a special three-plane spread attack that fires all three paper airplanes simultaneously in a fan pattern. This is incredibly effective against tight clusters of enemies or when facing boss enemies with large hitboxes. The special attack has a cooldown, so use it only when the tactical situation demands maximum firepower.

👁️ Study the Level Layout

Before taking your first shot, spend a moment scanning the entire level. Identify target positions, note any wind obstructions, and plan your firing sequence. Some levels have hidden targets tucked behind obstacles that require bounce shots or specific fold types to reach. A good plan before firing saves ammo and increases your final score.

📈 Progress through Fold Types

Unlock new fold types as you advance through the campaign. The stunt plane becomes available at level eight, while the heavy bomber unlocks at level fifteen. Each new fold type opens up tactical possibilities and makes previously challenging levels easier. Focus on progressing through the campaign to expand your strategic options.

Gameplay Mechanics & Walkthrough

Paper Airplane Physics Engine

Papercraft Wars features a custom physics simulation for realistic paper airplane flight:

  • Lift Force: Each fold type generates different amounts of lift. The glider produces the most lift, allowing for longer flight times and higher trajectories, while the dart produces minimal lift for fast, flat trajectories.
  • Drag Coefficient: Paper airplanes experience significant drag that slows them down over time. Heavier folds like the bomber have higher drag, requiring more initial power to reach distant targets.
  • Gravity Effect: All paper airplanes are affected by gravity, causing them to arc downward over distance. The trajectory preview shows the estimated drop-off for your current aim.
  • Wind Interaction: Crosswinds push the paper airplane laterally, while headwinds reduce speed and tailwinds increase it. Wind strength is measured on a scale from calm to extreme.
  • Collision Detection: Precise collision detection determines when your paper airplane hits targets, obstacles, or the ground. Direct hits deal maximum damage, while glancing blows deal reduced damage.
  • Bounce Mechanics: Some surfaces allow your paper airplane to bounce, potentially hitting secondary targets. Bounces are affected by the fold type and impact angle.

Enemy Types & Target Variety

Paper warfare features diverse enemy types to keep gameplay engaging:

  • Paper Soldiers: Basic single-hit targets arranged in formations. The most common enemy type in early and mid-level missions.
  • Paper Tanks: Heavily armored targets requiring three or more hits to destroy. Recognized by their larger size and reinforced paper layers.
  • Paper Towers: Tall structures with multiple weak points. Destroying the top section causes the entire tower to collapse for massive combo bonuses.
  • Flying Paper Drones: Moving targets that fly around the level, making them harder to hit. They require quick reflexes and leading your shots to intercept their flight path.
  • Paper Fortresses: Multi-section boss targets found at the end of each chapter. Destroying each section progressively weakens the fortress until final collapse.
  • Stealth Targets: Semi-transparent enemies that become visible only briefly. Require careful observation to identify and destroy before they disappear again.

Level Themes & Environments

Levels are organized into themed environments that present unique tactical challenges:

  • Training Grounds: The opening tutorial levels set in a backyard environment with calm winds and simple target arrangements. Ideal for learning basic mechanics.
  • Paper City: Urban environment with paper buildings and structures. Wind gusts between buildings create complex aiming conditions for mid-tier levels.
  • Origami Forest: Nature-themed levels with folded paper trees and foliage. Obstacles create natural barriers that require bounce shots or the stunt plane to navigate.
  • Desert Scrolls: Sandy desert levels with strong, unpredictable wind patterns. Long-range targets test your compensation skills against challenging crosswinds.
  • Arctic Paper Base: Snow and ice-themed advanced levels with slippery surfaces and moving targets. Extreme wind conditions make this the most challenging environment.

Paper Fold Craft Descriptions

Each paper airplane fold type has been carefully balanced for different playstyles:

  • The Dart (Key 1): A simple traditional dart fold. Fast flight speed, low lift, minimal drift. Best for quick, accurate shots at nearby targets. Available from the start.
  • The Glider (Key 2): A wide-winged glider fold. Slow flight speed, high lift, gentle drift. Remains airborne longer for hitting distant targets. Available from the start.
  • The Stunt Plane (Key 3): A precision stunt fold. Medium speed, variable lift, and can be angled for curved trajectories. Unlocks at level eight. Essential for navigating around obstacles.
  • The Heavy Bomber (Key 4): A thick, heavy paper fold. Slow but powerful flight path with high damage output. Unlocks at level fifteen. The only fold capable of destroying heavily armored targets in a single hit.

Progression & Unlock System

Papercraft Wars features a rewarding progression system:

  • Campaign Unlocks: Complete levels to progress through the five-chapter campaign, unlocking new environments, enemy types, and fold varieties.
  • Star Ratings: Each level awards one to three stars based on your performance. Three stars require completing with at least thirty percent ammo remaining and destroying all bonus targets.
  • Achievement System: Over forty achievements track your progress, including milestone achievements for completing chapters, skill achievements for high combo scores, and speed achievements for time-based challenges.
  • Score Leaderboards: Global leaderboards allow you to compare your scores with players worldwide. Weekly and monthly resets keep the competitive experience fresh.
  • Difficulty Scaling: Three difficulty levels affect enemy health, wind intensity, and ammo availability. Easy mode provides generous ammo supplies, while hard mode challenges even experienced players.
